The Mockins bed extender is exactly what we needed!! We are retired and go to Florida for a few months While there we fish out of our kayaks every day that is nice. If you look in the picture the bars up high are where we had to load our kayaks keep in mind they weigh 100lbs each. every time we went out. So it got to the point that we would decide first if we felt like lifting them on and off. We found the Mockins bed extender and thought if it works then it will be a game changer! Well it works!! So much easier to haul back and forth from our camp site to the different places we like to put in. It was easy to put together and once the kayaks are loaded the included ratchet straps wrap around and secure them to the extender. We highly recommend this product !
Good product for the price. 22 pieces of composite decking made it home safely in my F-150 XLT short bed. If you have ever moved composite decking you know it's as slick as, well you get the idea. Make sure you have the yard guy add extra banding. This unit also stores nicely in my shed waiting for the next job. I would recommend this product.

Relatively simple install, is very beefy, and does a great job. However, the packaging needs improvement as I had multiple parts arrive damaged. Since I am going to be using this for hauling lumber, I'm not too concerned about the damage
I'll admit that my expectations were initially low, but I was pleasantly surprised. It went together very easily and worked like it should! Makes transporting kayaks a lot easier.I agree with others that it rattles and wobbles without a load on it, but it's fine once you strap something down on it. Only complaint was that it wasn't entirely clear where the U-bolt/stabilizer goes from the instructions, but it clamps the unit down to the trailer hitch.Great bang for buck overall!

That's how these extenders have to work without shims in each connection.
This extender is better than I thought it would be. Nice and heavy. I have a short bed F150 and carried this 12' pecan slab. It adjusts very easily. I added a couple tie-down points and a couple extra reflectors. The steel was plenty thick enough to tap for 1/4- bolts.
I don't recommend you go crazy as I did - see photos for a visual representation of my insanity. I had some 16'0" and 20'0" boards I wanted to haul with my Toyota Tacoma - problem, Tacoma bed is 5'2". Great excuse to buy an extender.I had to punch out one tab that got pressed but was not punched out at the factory for some reason. 5-pound hammer and cold chisel, it popped right out. I also had to file down two holes because the pins wouldn't push through - it literally took less than a minute to file them down. Some minor inconveniences.It took about 5 minutes to assemble the extender. Loaded up the 2x8s and off I went. Fortunately, I was able to get to my destination via back roads so I didn't have 15'0" hang out the back of my truck in any heavy traffic areas.Hauled the lumber 33 miles, mostly in a driving thunderstorm, to my son's house no issues at all. Don't think I would ever test it to the full 750 pounds it says it will hold but for the occasional times that I need to extend my truck bed, I think this will be perfect. Well worth the $90.00 I paid.
The product did what it said it would do. Very easy to assemble. Carried the scanoe 75 miles with no issues. I can see where a rubber shim or two would sturdy it up a bit, but I left it without so it could have some play when it bounced on the road. The included straps were a bonus also. Good product.
05/06/21 UPDATED: I had cracked the weld on the tube connector in the fall of 2020 and put it in storgae until the spring, my replacement and warranty had ran out but Mockins was incredible with replacing the part. I sent an request through Amazon and received a message back quickly, asking me to call them and they would absolutely support replacing the part - that is AWESOME customer service and I am thankful for a company that has integrity in what they sell to make sur ethier customers are FULLY SATISFIED. I know they didnt have to do this, but they did, in a very pleasant and customercentric manner. Thank you Mockins for being A+ with your products.I shouldn't take have to use a grinder n anything I buy, whether it's $60 or $6... the angle section fit had a build up of coating and wouldn't allow insert into long tube (see picture). I had to. Take a grinder and lap the coating down to the steel a couple times. I trimmed just enough to use a rubber mallet to fit the two sections. While this will be a great joint that won't rattle, if I didn't have a grinder, this would have been dropped off at UPS and returned.Aside from the fit Noted above, the rest was fine. It's he y duty and very sturdy to hold a 12.5 kayak in the back of a Tacoma short bed.
Showed up in good condition, instructions were easy to follow. installed very easily but had to make some tweaks by putting pool noodles on it so the boat we put on it wouldn't get scratched upWe have had this now for 3 months and still can't complain. I am adding photos to my review due to the fact of the amount of questions I am getting. Hopefully the measurements in the photos will answer any further questions.

This truck bed extender tool is awesome! It is a great tool! It's rated for 700 lbs, but I have loaded it with close to 850 lbs and it has held up great!

I have a very short bed on my truck and with this it will make me put 4 X 8 sheets half way back in the bed because set up it is at 10' 2" to the extender from the front of my bed. There is no way to make it shorter. If there was a short piece with the kit it would make it a lot more universal.
