Hitch Carriers FAQ

General Compatibility & Installation

A: The cargo carrier fits vehicles with a 2" hitch receiver. Always verify that your vehicle’s hitch class and weight capacity support the carrier.

Q: Can the cargo carrier be used with a hitch extender?
A: Yes, as long as the hitch extender is rated for the appropriate weight capacity and does not compromise stability.

Q: Is this hitch carrier approved for use on a 5th wheel?
A: Yes, as long as the hitch receiver meets the required weight capacity. Always double-check your vehicle’s specifications.

Q: Can the hitch carrier be attached to a tow ball?
A: No, it is not designed for tow ball use. It must be connected to a hitch receiver.

Safety & Security

Q: How does the hitch stabilizer & lock system enhance safety?
A: The hitch stabilizer minimizes wobbling and movement, while the hitch lock prevents theft by securing the carrier to the vehicle.

Q: Will dual exhaust pose a fire hazard?
A: The heavy-duty steel withstands high temperatures, but it is recommended to maintain a safe distance from the exhaust to prevent heat exposure.

Q: Does the cargo carrier block the rearview camera?
A: It may partially obstruct visibility depending on your vehicle and the cargo being carried. Always check after installation and adjust if needed.

Q: What is the maximum recommended height for stacking cargo?
A: If stacking above the side rails, use a cargo net or tie-down straps to keep items secure during travel.

Durability & Maintenance

Q: Is the cargo carrier rust-proof?
A: The carrier is made of anti-rust steel with a protective coating. For extended durability, periodically apply a rust-resistant spray and store it indoors when not in use.

Q: Is the carrier weather-resistant?

Cargo Bag Features & Security

A: The waterproof cargo bag has carry handles, zipper pulls, a protective zipper flap, Velcro closures, and buckle straps. It also includes an anti-theft lock for added security.

Shipping was fast, as was assembly.I believe it took about 15-20 minutes, at a leisurely pace.Problems I had:First....one side of the frame was twisted. Once I placed the plate with the orange lettering on one side, you can clearly see the unassembled side did not line up. And it's off by a lot.Secondly.....one of the bolts used to screw the second plate on, didn't have a groove cut into it. I suppose I could have pulled out a Dremel to make a groove, but I tightened it enough.Third..... you better have a rubber mallet, as you are going to need to force the 4 bolts that hold the hitch rail to the carrier platform, through the holes. They don't line up well.I haven't used any of the accessories yet. We'll see how it handles a 2400 mile (round) trip, and rate it again

Been using this for more than a year maybe 2. No problems and well built. Put it together in a half hour and put it on my trailer. Folds up when in storage. Works great.

When looking at reviews online for hitch mount cargo carriers this was consistently at the top. The assembly was pretty straight forward, but I would recommend making it a two person job. The rack has some weight to it but is easy enough for one perso. To take on and off a vehicle. We were able to pack a lot into it which allowed us to take everything we needed (family of 4) for a two week camping trip. The car was still packed but the extra packing space meant we did not have to feel like we were playing Tetris to pack the car. Did not notice any difference while driving. The cargo bag earned its waterproof rating as we drove through multiple storms on our trip. Everything stayed nice and dry. It also worked as a general storage bag outside our tent for non food related items.

My first review that I just deleted I gave the company and this product a one star review and would've given it a zero star review if possible because our unit broke on the highway leaving us stranded at 1am for several hours waiting on county sheriff to help assist us off the highway in the middle of nowhere in Georgia with our belongings. Was a very bad night with two large dogs in our car to say the least.I called the company to advise them of the situation that occurred and they were very sympathetic and apologetic for our unfortunate experience. They advised me that there is a new manufacturer for their product, they are sending us a new unit, and also refunded our purchase price. They advised me that they are a small business and wanted to do the right thing and make it right for us. I support small businesses anyway I can, though this was an unfortunate situation for my wife and I the company stepped up and did the right thing and I appreciate that! For this reason I changed my review to a 5 Star review.

Using this on a 2023 4x4 Tundra SR5 Double cab 6-1/2 ft Bed pickup with a 2- hitch receiver and looks like it will work just fine for my light-weight excess cargo requirements, but the Hitch Lock Pin shipped with it is 3mm to 4mm too short. I cannot get the lock end of the pin to snap in place and lock. Disappointing. Also disappointing are the cheap stick-on reflectors delivered with it, which I definitely won't be using. So unless I hear back from the shop I'll be shopping for a locking hitch pin that actually fits and locks, and a set of bolt-on reflectors before giving it a shakedown run.

For anyone who wants to build a box to go in the bag, some notes on what I learned the hard way. In the pic the bag has some slack in it because i did not put lids on my box but there's room for that if i want to make locking lids. 1. If you want a snug fit you need to cut the bag on some of the vertical seam lines then put the box in the bag & screw the bag to the box. Also had to cut one end if the zipper. Otherwise the bag doesn't fully open. I re-sealed the edges snd covered them with long reflective strips from the auto parts store. 2. Don't forget that the box has to fit into the curved corners of the cargo carrier so you can't simply measure the length & width of the carrier. Actual box can match the side width but not the back length. Length needs to stop near where the curves start. And yes, my box is way stronger than you need but I was in a hurry & didn't want to waste time cutting more wood. I took the box on a 3k road trip loaded with 80-100 pounds. No issues. Just wish I had bothered to get a converter hitch to raise the hitch height. Otherwise if you have a low car like mine your hitch will sometimes scrape the ground when entering/leaving driveways.

I don't usually leave reviews on products but I must say for this item I was quite impressed. I live in Southern California and was visiting family in Central Idaho and needed extra storage space and it was a last minute sort of thing so I ordered this item briefly looking at some reviews to get an idea of what I was buying. Most reviews said the item tended to rust rather quickly no big deal a couple of spray cans should solve the issue(I used rust oleum stops rust flat black with a matte clear coat). Upon arrival I noticed some damage on the rack there is 2 pictures that are dented again no big deal as I was able to bend them back into place. The rack was the perfect size no issues there. Now the final concern was I read a review or 2 saying the bag was not weather proof which is obviously a big concern I had and I had absolutely no issues and the bag held up PERFECTLY! Keep in mind I drove a total of 1600 miles give or take and endured very heavy rain over the span of 5 days and a snow storm as you can see in one of my pictures and my luggage and stroller were completely dry. All in all if you are looking for a decently priced roof rack to get the job done this rack is for you. The only negative is the rack and weatherproof bag did affect my MPG (obviously) but surprisingly only affected it by 3-5mpg give or take so all in all I am very satisfied with this rack and look forward to using it on many other trips.

Living in SW Florida and driving a jeep with limited cargo space and 14.8 mpg we needed something Incase we had to flee a hurricane-¦ Knock Knock, Ian is here.So it is very easy to assemble. It comes with everything including some, not so great wrenches, it's easier if you just use your own but it will work if you don't have any. I assembled and did a dry fit 3 days before Ian hit.It went on easy and seems like it can handle a lot of weight. which it did as with my Jerry cans I figured I had about 200lbs on it.Downsides-¦When I first put it on and got it all tightens down, with the hitch stabilizer as I took that pic while just trying it out, it was straight as can be. I stood on it, pushed it around and it didn't have a lot of movement, seemed sturdy. When I finally loaded it up before fleeing it tilted down to the driver side just a bit, and stayed that way. O well, it worked. When we came back I left it on for a few days just in case I needed to carry fuel cans again to go find fuel and within those 5 or so days, rust. You can see all the different spots on the last few photos. Not sure if that will diminish how long the carrier will work.

This is a great cargo carrier. We've had it for over a year now and it has held up well, is sturdy, and holds a ton! Unfortunately a part of our carrier was damaged in shipping which made it sit crooked. Because we were going on a cross country trip the day after we assembled it we didn't have time to return it and we used it for a year in its crooked state. 🤦🏼-â™€ï¸ When I finally got around to contacting customer service about the issue they were so kind and generous. They said they would have taken care of the problem immediately if I would have contacted them about it but they offered to still replace the defective parts even though we had had the carrier for over a year! Wow! Now that is excellent customer service!!!! I sent them several pictures with a level and they were able to determine the problem. They sent us the new parts we needed just in time for our next cross country trip, we replaced them, and now the carrier is perfectly straight and working great. 5 stars! We will purchase from this company again because they were so kind and really stood by their product. Highly recommend!

I truly loved this product after downsizing my vehicle but after three trips within the state, the cargo bag is coming apart allowing it to now leak. I live in SC where it has been rather hot lately and I believe the Velcro closures may only be glued rather than sewn. It seems as if the heat has simply melted the adhesive and they are sliding right off the cargo bag. Very disappointed and hoping the company will rectify this as the rack part of the carrier has been very useful.UPDATE: After leaving this review, I received an email from Mockins requesting I call. I called approximately two days later and spoke to a very helpful rep, Ingrid. They have apparently had some issues from one manufacturing site and she was very willing to make this situation right, even offering to have a new bag sent to me on vacation. When I arrived home, a new bag was waiting on me. Although, we haven't used it yet, we will be soon and I will update accordingly. That being said, definitely upgrading my rating due to the amazing customer service which is hard to find.

I have not driven with this YET. Based off assembly and first assessment of product, it is great. Assembly is easy, the quality of the material seems legit. The coating is tough, the hardware isn't cheap feeling. The cargo carrier itself is not flimsy nor too heavy. Will post an update after my cross country trip.UPDATED*****I drove to from FL to ND and back with this. It is a solid product EXCEPT the bag. We made sure to keep the top flap in correct position but we didn't build a frame for the inside of it. Everything-¦..SOAKED. Had to pour to water out of the suitcases lol. I would recommend this. I threw the bag away. I recommend buying a different bag that specifies a waterproof ZIPPER. We purchased the Amazon basic rooftop bag and it does specify a waterproof zipper (as an example) and nothing ever got wet. I was able to set up and install and access everything on me own.

4 stars for the price-I did a lot of review reading before getting this. It was in my budget and I needed something to help me evacuate during fire season... like MANY reviews listed, it comes rusted and/or rusts fast! So after 24$ (3 cans) of Rust-oleum paint (the large cans) I sprayed inside the weld cracks multiple times. down the tubes that join together. I painted EVERYTHING. the bolts that are sent to use are already rusted and I will need to invest in stainless or something as I don't want to create rust. Unfortunately, one of the "U" brackets was threaded in a way that I had to force the "nut" on to hold it down. I am unsure if I will be able to reuse that U bracket when I go to uninstall and the reinstall it. Haven't attempted to as for a replacement yet... will shorten your mpg by 2 miles.... and I don't want it on all the time, but now its kinda stuck....

The bag that held the bolts etc., had been ripped open and there were NO INSTRUCTIONS to be found. I'm a clutzy non-mechanically inclined female so I found some videos on YouTube and watched them repeatedly. I got it, I think. The frame itself was packaged carefully but not the bolts, it was gone through before I got it. It was easy, I'll say that. I like the quality. I hope it lasts, I'm traveling to Alaska from AZ in the spring.

I gave this a 4/5 because the product does what it is supposed to do. I might have given it a 3 because it didn't come in perfect condition as expected. The box arrived on my doorstep damaged and the product was scraped up and bent in a few locations so it didn't line up properly. Yes this could be partially blamed on the shipping company but there also wasn't sufficient packaging to protect the pieces from banging around in the box. Also there seems to be some quality control issues. One of the bolt holes didn't line up and one of the tack welds went completely through the box tubing which will result in rain water getting in and eventually rusting it out from the inside. As other Jeep Wrangler owners stated, if you have an oversized spare tire this item will not fold up all the way to be able to lock it in the vertical position. I ended up folding it up to the tire and used a strap around the tire to hold it in the upright position. Also the oversized tire won't allow you to open your rear door with the unit on the Jeep. So that's kind of a pain in the butt as well.Overall it does its job. Just plan on having to take it on and off the Jeep a bunch if you need to get in and out of the rear door.
