I've seen my fair share of Mockins products and they serve a basic purpose of doing what they do without being flashy or too expensive. This one arrive with one tube bent that required some massaging to get it back into place. I assembled it in its shorter 60 inch configuration option so I could store it vertically in my shop. The 90 inch option would run into light fixtures and garage door hardware. If you have a truck cap or a vehicle like a Suburban with a long roof, the 90" option is great for getting more stuff out of the vehicle and allowing more passengers. It does require a set of roof rack crossbars and in the full length variation you may want three or four to properly support it. Assembly is simple if everything is straight. The Mockins carry bags are a nice add-on to the package along with the three straps. I'd like to see and option for a 60 inch bag and a 30 inch so that one could still be used when the rack is in its shorter setup. Overall, it's not a life long commitment due to its basic structure but it will last through several family vacations, moves to college and camping trips.
This is a two-part, or perhaps it could be considered a three-part set. There is the cartop carrier which, unextended, is 60x50x6 inches. There is the extension piece that is inserted in the middle between the ends of the rack and turns this into a 90x50x6 cartop carrier. And finally, there is the 85-inch long waterproof bag that only fits the rack with the extension in place.The rack is solid, heavy and capable. It's not a beauty, nor will it last forever without rusting. There's already a hint of rust in a place the powder coating didn't hit. So this is not a cosmetic addition to your vehicle--and I often feel roof racks are installed more for their macho looks than for actual hauling loads. Nor is it the most solidly built rack. it's not a Gobi in looks or solidity. But it is useful. It does work. It is a capable rack and it won't hurt your vehicle.I got this for a potential trip overland to Alaska with a Sienna minivan, and if you are using this for utilitarian purposes like actually hauling things this is a great addition to your car.Installation can involve a bit of trial and error and work in getting things lined up. But it's doable and the end result is a useful rack. Attaching the extension piece to the end pieces involves screwing and then covering with rubber. The rack must be placed on a car with cross bars already in place.Finally, the waterproof bag is well built and will keep rain out of your luggage. I wouldn't put sensitive equipment in the bag without placing it in a second plastic bag to ensure it doesn't get wet, but as rooftop carrier bags go, this is pretty water resistant.

This cargo bag has been a great choice so far. It can hold one large suitcase, two carry-on sizes, and a duffle bag.

Ok, so there's a whole story with this:I got it to drive (move) from Florida to California. The bag itself is amazing. It's weatherproof waterproof and stayed on my car the whole trip. I didn't even take it off at night because it was literally so heavy, myself plus four other people couldn't lift it. So it weathered everything. The only problem is with the straps going through your car when it rains because it drips down the straps into the car. When that happened I got DampRid and baking soda and it dried up everything and didn't even smell. Everything turned out fine but just know if it rains with this thing on your car. That means it is raining in your car.
We ordered this bag for our trip to PCB this yr because we had ran out of room in the car from the addition of our newborn. The trip down was nice weather and the bag had no issues. We used the ratchet straps to secure it to the roof rails. The trip back was the true test being we had been evacuated because of hurricane Michael. The bag withstood strong winds and random rainstorms without any issues. Our luggage was dry and secure once we arrived home in Tn. I would recommend this roof bag to anyone.
Handled all the family luggage for a 14 hr road trip, leaving us all plenty of room in the car. Very strong, sturdy, and weatherproof.The included lock is a little cheap, but I have dozens of better ones so it wasn't a big deal.

This rooftop carrier was purchased for a camping trip. I didn't want it to cost a lot so I decided to give this one a shot. It contained 6 camping chairs, 2 tents for two and one tent for four, a folding chair, 4 camping pads and a few sleeping bags. We traveled approximately 3 hours each way on I-5 and stayed within the speed limit. I did hear some noises, but this is normal at 65-70 MPH. To avoid any slack in my carrier, I filled it as full as possible. Nothing was damaged or frayed. It still looks brand new. It was exposed to sun and sun, so I cannot attest to its waterproofness. However, I have no problem trying it out when it rains this winter.
We traveled across the country with this in rain and snow and it did not leak.

It takes a while to set up, but it works great. This bag was used for a 7-hour road trip at 70+ mph, with heavy rains and heavy driving. There were no leaks or damages. It folds up easily and can be stored away.

We put this through its paces and it held up. Not sure how much weight we shoved on it but it was definitely loaded down then drove over 400mi on the highway and in the mountains. It worked great! Easy to hook up to add extra carry space.

Nice size everything fit
This bag was very reliable. It was a great bag. First, it didn't move on my roof. There was no slipping or sliding. Second, it was quiet when I traveled over 500 miles. My last roof bag was very loud. Third, it rained hard from Pennsylvania up to Newport News Virginia but everything remained dry inside. The zipper covers are velcro-down and of good quality. This bag is highly recommended. The fit was perfect for my Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I work at an industrial frabrication place and this product is really well made for the money. I never wrote a review until this one and I must say I am excited to see how this hold up from wisconsin to florida and back!
Great product easy to assemble
This product was great. It kept our luggage dry and safe throughout the 16-hour drive. The only problem with the entire setup is the fact that you have to attach your luggage to your car without a roof rack. If it rains, it drips down your car's straps and soaks your seats. This was something we learned the hard way. It worked wonderfully and we will be using it again.

This bag is great, especially for the money. I drove from south florida to Pennsylvania going 85mph and it is still in great shape. It also rained the night we loaded everything in and during the trip and everything inside was completely dry when we got to PA. I used ratchet straps to strap this through my car doors. The handles built onto the top 4 corners are super helpful for strapping onto a car without rooftop bars.
What Mockins promised standing in their word! Would like to suggest 100% to buying this product for any type of SUV's!
