At first I was a little hesitant on getting a cargo basket for the roof but boy did this basket put in work. Did great for 16 hour round trip road trip. It did make a little noise. Also one of the bolts broke when tightening it. But after I replaced it all work worked out. Definitely recommend this
The rack is great cargo solution and prefect fit extended for the RX350. The cons: difficult installation and extended racking will not align with end part. The tubing or piping will not align. The canvas bag is not 100% water proof and somehow water got in and wet the suitcases. It damaged some clothing. We reached out to the company and they mailed us a rear rack ending and still had issues aligning it and screws pre drilled holes were not done. We ended up forcing the original and bending tubing until it aligned. Not fun at all to install when it should've been a breeze to do.Still, i soul recommended because after it was put together and installed it fulfilled the purpose and expectations of the heavy weight, roof fitting and it looks really good.We travel with it loaded from Cape Cod to FL and it performed better than expected as a carrier solution.
We like the metal rack, it was easy to install and seems very solid. It did come with the wrong size caps but the supplier sent us replacements that fit. The bag however-¦after one trip it is ripped to shreds on the top. So waterproof-ness is now out the window. Very disappointed as we have had roof bags before that never ripped like this for YEARS and this happened after only ONE trip.
Was easy to set up, and held a lot of material. Study and kept items dry --- even in a bad storm. Would recommend you tighten all bolts post each trip if you have a lot of weight into to be sure it stays tight. Very pleased and would recommend to others.
It seemed to be going together well. Then the last piece didn't line up because it was bent !! I thought about returning it but it's in such a large box it would have been more work & time for me. So I tried to correct the problem by bending back the bent piece. 30 minutes later it fit. The other thing I didn't like was I tried looking on Amazon then looking up Mockins to order Two additional mounting brackets, it comes with Four but I have an extra roof rack cross bar so I figured why not. No luck. I had to order some cheap universal ones. Anyway if you need any replacement parts you are out of luck. You will have to buy a New Rack combo. But live & learn. For now everything looks good.
Did a lot of research for a rack and bag combo for my Toyota Highlander. The Good- It was nicely packaged. All parts were there. The rack is very sturdy. The bag seems to be of good quality although I haven't been able to test that just yet. Easy to assemble. The Bad- because of the gaps in the rack and the way my non movable crossbars were located I could not successfully connect the back of the rack to both of rack bars as I did in the front of the rack. I was able to connect to one of the bars in the back (see pic) however it did end up being enough to securely attach the back of the rack in place. Rack would be better if there was no big gaps in the rack! So far I like my purchase. I will update once I put this thing to use.
We purchased this for a trip from MD to TN in my 2020 Palisade. It was easy to install to the roof rails. The bag was nice and roomy. Easy to zip up and then had the added thick Velcro. We fit two large suitcases, a small suitcase, a couple backpacks and some shopping bags in the bag and still had some room. It stayed on perfect. It got rained on and did not leak. The screws to attach it to the roof rails created a small rip in the bottom of the bag, so I think the design on the ends of those screws could have been better, but overall I am very happy with this roof rack/bag.
This is a vine review so take that into consideration.What a smash hit for the price and included quality compenents.If it were not for one major problem and another design limitation.-The zippers are its weak point and once those go it will make a big problem for you, whowill be relying on this during your trips or move. I have not even got on the road and the zipperspulled off the track and now require the velcro to close up.-The height of the bag is a problem if you want to stuff as much as you can to take advantage of how huge this thing is lengthwise. What had caused the zippers to fail was trying to close it with the uneven height of the items inside. You can say I tried to stuff to much but you would miss out on the times you have uneven height in the bag where the zipper will still be stressed.The great things this product does is offer you incredibly useful and well made ratchet straps as well as the adjustable length rack. The bag itself is not as adjustable as access to the inside of the bag requires the whole length to be exposed so you will have it folded up over the rest of the bag. Then you need to secure that extra portion separately.This would hands down be a 5 star review for its value and included quality components. The zippers being the wear point should be extremely durable or this becomes a ticking time bomb, which you do not want during or close to a trip or move.
My vehicles roof is already damaged, but others may be putting this on a newer/nicer vehicle than mine so word to the wise, if it rains while in use, water makes its way into the bars and turns to rust water and goes into your paint. Very disappointed in the product for how much it costs. If you still purchase this, I would recommend spraying an in frame wax to the bars to prevent the rust issue, but it's going to cost you more on top of the product which I don't believe it should.
This basket was easy to assemble and mount. The bag it came with felt really thick and i didnt come close to filling it up. Im thankful for the luggage back because the weather turned on me during my trip...All of the ratchet straps and othere straps it came with and the net was great and theres no way this thing will fall off your car
I have to say I'm very happy with the quality of this cargo rack. The metal tubing feels durable and when fully assembled the entire structure feels quite solid. The fact that you can disassemble the rack to add and remove the included extension pieces makes it a versatile choice that you can use with multiple vehicles.Getting this mounted to my roof racks took a bit of work because the provided spacers were too thick and the threaded crossbars were slightly too short. I ended up having to bend the threaded bars in order to get it to fit properly, and while that isn't ideal, it still works relatively well.Other than the mounting challenges, fit and finish are very good. The enamel coated finish looks like it will stand up to years of inclement weather and extreme conditions. The included gear bag is well-made and provides lots of storage space for anything you don't want exposed to the elements when you travel.Overall, this is a very well made product that's going to get a lot of use this summer. Recommended.
We bought this for a last minute road trip from Washington to New Mexico in Dec 2022. It survived that whole ordeal with zero issues. Installation of the basket was easy and the bag is sturdy and held all our items with no issues and weather was no match for it. So we packed it away until next time. Well we needed to make that drive from NM to Washington again and so we packed our roof bag and our basket like last time. Well I guess the second time was not so lucky. The straps started to fray and rip and as you can see from the picture the top of the bag started ripping in multiple places. So we had to unpack everything and pack it all in the SUV. Buyer beware this is a great solution but based on our experience won't last at all.
I don't really have a major complaint against it, but when it comes to my car, I just had one minor issue when attaching it to my crossbars. I have a 2020 corolla that did not come with crossbars. I bought the Toyota crossbars, and they only go on in one exact spot of the doors. The U bolts that come with the basket did not quite line up with the crossbars very well, but I was able to make it work. You will be able to see in the picture what I mean.
This is a kit with 3 different products.It includes the basket, a vinyl soft-sided cargo bag, and a bungee net.It also includes some standard ratcheting straps to hold everything down.The basket has optional middle sections. You can make it 40, 63, or 84 inches.However, the cargo bag is 80 inches long. So if you want to use the bag inside the cargo basket, you need to assemble the whole thing.Unfortunately the 84 inches was too long for both my car and my truck. So this is intended for minivans and SUVs.For smaller vehicles or trucks, it's ok if you let it overhang. But I'm leaving the cargo basket up full time, and don't want it overhanging permanently. I can always take it down and add the extra segment when it's time for vacation.I'm leaving the cargo basket on the roof full time. I think it looks great, and creates minimal (if any) drag. It comes in handy if I need a little extra storage.The cargo bag isn't quite as convenient, if it's not stuffed all the way full then it flops around a bit.It's steel, not aluminum. The paint coat isn't really that thick (see pics). It's not a huge deal, it just takes a squirt of glossy black spray paint, and occasional inspection and maintenance. Though it may be prone to rust from the inside out. I don't think it will easily rust through or anything like that, but I don't like droplets of rusty rainwater on my roof.There were also several small dings. Also not a huge deal, although one of those dings prevented me from sliding the piece into place. I had to use a rubber mallet.Aluminum would have been better in my opinion. And aluminum would have been lighter - this thing is fairly heavy if you're installing by yourself.The soft-sided vinyl bag is a lot thicker than expected. It's as thick as a swimming pool liner. And if there's ever a rip or tear, you can easily repair with TPU tape or a patch kit.Please note - it does not come with cross bars. Your vehicle must have cross beams to support the basket.Despite the flaws I stil.
Drove from Florida to Michigan for three weeks and then back to Florida again. Drove through rainstorms, snowstorms, -1° weather, and 40 mph wind gusts while driving 75 mph on the highway. This cargo system was incredible. The entire time had absolutely zero problems, even though it was covered in rain, snow, and salt from the road, mud etc. when we got home, it washed off easily and looks as good as new. Would highly recommended this to anybody. It carried Luggage for a family of five for three weeks with room to spare. Fit perfectly on our cars OEM rail system for our 2024 Hyundai PALISADE
We just got this and had it on of only a week and the lettering is coming off and making it look nasty I have see other people have this and there doesn't look like this
