Very large! The overall width is exactly 71 1/2" and I did a test fit on the back of my truck just to show how large this thing really is. That measurement is right at a matching width behind our Explorer SUV (maybe 1 to 2" short) so if you want something big that will look good behind an SUV this will fit great and give you some serious carrying capacity. This comes with a nice large cover and 3 ratchet straps. The design is great being able to fold up against the back of your car when not in use and the included spring loaded license plate bracket will remain visible. You get some oval LED running/brake lights as well that are essentially hard wired but they also provide trailer plug adapters you can use to just simply plug this into your rear bumper. There is a channel for running the wire through so they are hidden and protected as well. The instructions are detailed on every step of the assembly. It comes with a hitch stabilizer as well as a locking pin for the receiver hitch so you can leave it on without concerns of theft. When this is down at the in use position you have a good gap between it and your vehicle so you can easily still use a rear lift gate/hatchback and stand between it as well. That being said this size carrier does stick out from the vehicle a good bit but it is easy to flip up with the adjustment of a single large pin. Also this is definitely a 2 person assembly! Heavy and bulky. But that's what I like about it, large and good heavy quality! Love it!
Both my husband and my son were impressed with the Cargo Carrier Hitch Mount Luggage Rack sold on Amazon by Mockins. Which is good considering that the price is an investment sort of price. The heavy-duty durability and long lasting capability were two reasons why. The metal used in this product is as stated weatherproof steel.It took about an hour to assemble then only around 10 minutes to mount. The directions were clear and concise according to my husband who put it together. Then the only thing my son thought should be mentioned is that it goes smoother to mount with two people. The pull-in for the lights were easy to do. A great product if you are looking for a carrier that is as well-made and strong as stated including a cargo bag.
This folding cargo carrier is the BEST upgrade ever!! I now basically have an instant mini trailer with me anywhere I go. This is beyond ideal if you're in the habit of coming across amazing deals while antiquing, thrifting, or just driving around.It was very easy to put together. It took 2 people to pick it up and get it into the trailer hitch but it was easy peasy as well.I'm so impressed with how extremely heavy duty the construction of the whole product is. From the mesh and bars to the hardware. It's very well designed. It folds up or down easily and secures in either position with a pin. So far it's entirely silent, even on the highway.It does make my backup warning beeper go off (no surprise there) so I need to figure out how to turn the sound off.I highly, highly recommend this folding cargo carrier as a hugely functional upgrade for your vehicle (assuming you have or will install a trailer hitch mount)!
This kit seems to have everything. The flip license plate holder is neat. All the parts are well coated with paint, and the cargo bag is thick and has ample straps for load securement. The carry bag is a plus. The product loses a star due to crooked welding on the hitch bar. I had to notch the end of the cargo basket's center tube to keep it from pinching the light cord when the basket was raised to the stowed position. I think there would have been enough room for the cord had the plate been welded square with the receiver tube, or had the tube been shorter. Additionally, I had to add one washer to each of the bolts that hold the two halves together. The lock washers are too small and they slip into the holes when used as shown in the instructions. The cargo basket's platform is frankly huge--a great way to carry extra cargo when needed. I do have reservations about the workmanship issues, especially given the cost of this product. I was well able to perform the necessary modification because I have the required tools and experience. Had I not, the product would have been useless to me, and I would have had to pay to return this heavy item. The design seems very good, but the welding on this unit was subpar. I received it through the Amazon Vine program.

This product looks nice, easy to put together, the weatherproof bag held up nice; unfortunately, the main support beam and basket started to sag (from day #1) after 3 weeks of travel the structural welds on the basket started breaking apart.This product says it holds 500 Lbs. (I weighed all my items in at 400 lbs). I used all 3 provided straps to provide support and reduce sway and it still bent and broke apart ... not happy with my purchase.

Junk didn't even make it on our first hour long camping trip, Bar going to the hitch bent and the welds broke on the box thing that allows it to tilt. I only had one e-bike that's weight was 68 lbs. and one E-scooter that was 120 lbs. the total weight was 188lbs. Says supports 500lbs that is a lie. I followed instructions which complete suck at putting together.
The largest & most weight rated rv rack I could find. Perfectly fits my 50- dog fence panels, XL dog crate, generator, & gas can with room to spare. Love it!
So far 1 local trip to Florida's west coast. Very convenient for added cargo space. You can fit six 27 gallon tubs plus more. The locking cargo tie down worked perfect. The cargo bag is supposed to be water resistant. I can't confirm if it is or isn't as it did not rain on both the outbound and return trips. Lights worked fine. I applied a clear sealant when installing them to ensure the stay in place. I'm not sure how reliable it will be. I will update review in 6 months. It don't get 5 stars until proven reliability.
The rack only had one hole to secure this large unit. We drilled an additional hole for more strength...,engineering design issue. In addition, the brake wires were not stripped and in order for the brake lights to work. The connector did not pierce the wire for a good connection. Could not wire through the tubing because there was no hole. QC and Design need to be improved.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I purchased this cargo rack in preparation for a drive to Alaska as the storage space in my camper is limited and I wanted to 500 pound carrying capacity that they offer. The rack is sturdy and easy to put together. However it wasn't tough enough for the ALCAN highway. I has four bulky Rubbermaid totes, a keens wagon, my wife's wheelchair and some dirty clothes packed into the waterproof bag all of which was less than 250 pounds. During the drive the shaft that fits into the receiver on my camper bent and eventually the end of the rack was about 8 inches off the ground. Every rack I have seen on the drive to Alaska ends up drooping some bit the way the metal bent on this into was excessive. While I'm still happy with the unit and especially the waterproof cargo bag, I'll say that they didn't make this tough enough to make it to Alaska.

It was fairly easy to put together, it appears to be of good quality, and held everything that I placed on the product in the included bag. It operates from folded to extended fairly easily. But, is a little heavy to install into the hitch by yourself; but can be done with a little preparation / planning.
Very heavy but manageable. Well constructed. Great directions. Couldn't ask for anything better. EXTREMELY satisfied.
Good quality for the price. A lot of value with this hitch carrier. Metal mesh on top of solid support structure, welded where it should be, triangulated supports, and good finish used. Crinkle style paint seems like it will hold up well. Much better build than similarly priced units you can find elsewhere.
I love this. It's huge and perfect for our needs when traveling and needing extra space. Easy to set up as well. Build quality is great. Its painted so doesn't look like it will rust. Came with rain protection which makes the combination very functional and worth the money.
This is such a great hitch carrier! We went with the XXL and it is the actual largest one we have ever seen. It comes with an incredibly thick waterproof bag and is well made. We have found that 6 stacked 116quart storage containers fit perfectly inside the huge bag with plenty of room to fit other items as well. The problem with these bags is it's hard to fill them up and they look like a big lump when strapped down. The stacked storage bins fill it up nicely and help it hold its shape. We had a small issue with the plug wire rubbing on the hitch tube when folded into the upright position. We saw that sometimes this happens and that the company will send a replacement part which. WHICH THEY DID!!It turns out the company is based in the US (NY) and has an incredible support team. They immediately sent out the updated part and it arrived within a day or two.It's always nice to deal with a family run business and especially when they have such great exceptional customer service. Can not recommend enough. See pic for diagram of the replacement part.
